Daily Planning: The Key to Real Estate Success

We are here to tell you that daily planning is essential to success. Getting up each day and shooting from the hip won’t work. You’ll find yourself in a constant state of disorganization, jumping from one thing to the next.

With a few daily planning tips and some practice, you’ll find it easy to begin planning your days for maximum efficiency.

Real Estate Daily Planner

  • The night before: To plan each day, knock off work about 30 minutes before you plan to leave each day and spend that time assessing what you accomplished and create your priority list for the next day. Set a goal for each day, be it setting one appointment or one listing. Your plans can be detailed down to the last minute, with you blocking time for calls and breaks, writing down the list of prospects to be contacted, and even noting how you will reward yourself for working your daily plan.
  • Take breaks for productivity.Sounds counter to what you might thing, but it works. The thought of several hours of prospecting calls each day is daunting to many of us. Again, develop some life hacks to encourage you to stick to your plan. Instead of trying to call for three hours straight, plan on making calls for 50 minutes and taking a 10-minute rest each hour before getting back on the phone. We can all do 50 minutes of work when we know a break lies ahead.
  • Plan once a week activities. Some tasks are crucial to your success, but you don’t need to work on them every day. So, at the first of each week, review your appointment schedule and slot one day just for these items, which include a study of local market conditions and a focus on specific business sources. In terms of the former, you’ll want to check local numbers for new construction starts, for instance. Talk to a couple of veteran agents to get their anecdotal read on the market. Your local Realtors Association is another deep source of information on market trends. As far as the latter, you might select just one day a month to call through FSBOs or expireds; another day to revisit past clients.
  • Tackle the biggest chores first. If there’s a major item on your list, handle that first. Don’t procrastinate until late in the day if you’ve got a key task to accomplish: Get it out of the way and move on.

And, remember: You won’t accomplish everything you want in a single day, although effective daily planning helps you be more productive. By focusing on small milestones daily you’ll meet your big goals.
